Diwink on your own server
Diwink Server is Diwink installed on a Windows server or PC of your company, with its own database. The PCs, the app and the rules are the same as on Diwink Cloud.

What a server of your own allows
The same product as Diwink Cloud, with what a server on your network brings.
Active Directory, as an option
The users and groups you choose are synchronised from the directory, read only, and everyone signs in with their domain password. Without a domain, users are created in Diwink.
Printers read by the server
The server reads the network printers’ status, toner and counters: alerts, maintenance by page count, pages printed outside Diwink.
All the history
The print history is kept with no time limit, in your own database.
A copy every night
The server copies its database every night and keeps the most recent copies; a single command restores it.
Updates at your pace
You install new versions when you decide; your settings and data are kept.
Even with the server down
Each PC applies the last rules it received, and sends its print jobs as soon as the server answers.
Diwink Server or Diwink Cloud?
Both editions have the same agent, the same app and the same features, and in both the contents of documents never leave your network. What differs:
| Topic | Diwink Cloud | Diwink Server |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | At Fikra Systems | On a Windows server or PC of your company |
| What you install | The agent and the app, on each PC | The server, then the agent and the app on each PC |
| Users | Diwink accounts with a work e-mail address; two-step verification available | Built-in, Active Directory, or both |
| Reading the printers | By the PCs of their network | By the server, or by the PCs |
| Print history | Depends on the plan: 90 days on the Free plan | No time limit |
| Updates | The service, by Fikra Systems; the PCs, by you | The server and the PCs, by you |
| Internet access | Needed by the PCs, which print offline meanwhile | Optional: the licence can also be activated offline |
| Price | Free plan, then a subscription per seat: see Pricing | A lifetime licence per server, on quotation |
Choose Diwink Server if…
- your policy requires the data to stay on your own servers;
- you want to use the users and groups of your Active Directory;
- your server has no internet access;
- you want to keep all the print history, in your own backups.
Choose Diwink Cloud if…
- you do not want a server to install or maintain;
- you want to start for free, then pay per seat;
- your PCs have internet access;
- you do not need Active Directory.
What leaves your network
Never the contents of documents
Diwink only knows who prints, where, how many pages and when. Document names are recorded by default, and a setting stops it.
Counts, to Fikra Systems
With internet, the server sends its licence, its identity and daily counts (PCs, printers, users, print jobs, pages). Never who printed what.
Nothing, without internet
A server with no internet access works with a licence activated offline.
Licence and activation
Diwink Server is bought once: a lifetime licence per server, on quotation.
- A lifetime licence per server. Bought once and bound to the PC that hosts the server, it sets the number of PCs and printers managed, or of seats.
- Online activation. Type the key you received on the panel’s Licence page: the server has it validated, then checks it every day. More PCs need no new key.
- Offline activation. Without internet, the Licence page shows the server’s serial number: sent to Fikra Systems, it gets you a licence file to open on that same page.
- A trial to start with. From the Licence page, without a key, once per server; it needs internet to start. When it ends, the panel opens only the Licence page until Diwink is activated, but the PCs keep printing with their last rules.
- Changing the server. If the server’s PC is replaced, Fikra Systems moves the licence to the new one.
Requirements
From the Diwink Server deployment guide, which also covers the installation, certificates, backups and updates.
| Item | Server | Each PC |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Windows Server 2016 or later, or Windows 10 or 11; 64-bit | Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit |
| Hardware | 2 cores, 4 GB of memory, 20 GB free for the database, its copies and the logs | Nothing beyond Windows |
| Software | Installed by the setup: Microsoft’s Visual C++ runtime, .NET Framework 4.8 if missing, and Diwink’s PostgreSQL database | None: the installation package carries what it needs |
| Installation | By an administrator of the server | By an administrator of the PC; silent installation possible (Group Policy, Intune) |
| Domain | Member or not. Active Directory needs a reachable domain controller; Windows sign-in to the panel, the server in the domain | Member or not |
| Clock | On time, the domain’s or by NTP: the PCs rely on it for the quota periods | No requirement: Diwink does not rely on the PCs’ clocks |
Network
| What for | From | To | Port |
|---|---|---|---|
| The agents, the app and the panel; the setup opens this port in the Windows firewall | PCs, administrators’ browsers | Server | TCP 8443 (HTTPS), chosen at setup |
| Active Directory, when used | Server | Domain controllers | TCP 389, or 636 (LDAPS) |
| Printer status, toner, page counters | Server | Network printers | UDP 161 (SNMP) |
| Licence activation and its daily check; without internet, offline activation | Server | hub.diwink.fikrasystems.com | TCP 443 (HTTPS) |
| E-mail notifications, if you turn them on | Server | The company’s mail server | TCP 587, 465 or 25 (SMTP) |
The database listens on the server itself only: it needs no firewall rule.
